Puerta del Sol 6 (corner of Calle Carretas): assassination of Prime Minister José Canalejas on 12 November 1912 by anarchist Manuel Pardiñas Serrano, who shot him in front of the San Martín bookshop. (There is a plaque, but it is currently obscured by scaffolding).
